The two convicts, Udayakumar and Umesh, were given life imprisonment by the court. JK Binil recalled that the inquiry was challenging from the beginning and the investigation team faced a lot of difficulties due to the lack of eye witness in the case. “The body of the Latvian woman recovered after 38 days and it was in a decomposed state. The place was geographically very tough to reach. Amid all these difficulties, we could pinpoint the circumstances which led to the crime,” JK Binil told ANI. It was the case based on the circumstantial evidence, but prosecution could able to prove the case by virtue of 18 circumstances. Investigation team was truthful and there is no manipulation in the case. Absence of biological evidence is not weakness of the prosecution or investigation, but strength.
