3rd Russian Ecological Forum: A platform for eco-conscious dialogue and action
Oct 19, 2023
Moscow (Russia), Oct 19 (ANI/ TV BRICS): Visitors are greeted with creatures and birds constructed out of recycled computer parts at the Russian ecological forum. The topic of waste utilisation and recycling is particularly relevant today. For example, it took 20 plastic bottles to make this t-shirt. They were collected on the beaches of Thailand and then sent for recycling. Now the country is implementing the national waste management action plan. In Philippines, plastic waste is also turned into construction materials. Entrepreneurs in this country come up with both their own environmental projects and joint projects with businessmen from other countries. A large-scale programme for the development of closed-cycle economies was adopted in the association of southeast Asian nations in 2021. As Ivan Polyakov, chairman of the Asean-Russia business council, emphasised, it is by joining efforts at the international level that the necessary economic and environmental effect can be achieved. In the list of Russian environmental innovations - from 2024, the manufacturer of packaging will be responsible for its recycling. Everything is going towards the point where non-recyclable packaging will not only become unfashionable, but also unprofitable. Eco-industrial parks should also help to reduce the ecological footprint. According to the plan, 8 such associations will appear in Russia next year. Foreign countries are interested in the idea: negotiations are underway with Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand on the export of Russian technologies in the field of recycling, as well as the construction of new "green" infrastructure. Forum participants discussed dozens of issues: From regulation of tariffs in the field of solid municipal waste to digital platforms for trade in recyclable materials. One of the main topics was environmental culture, which, according to the speakers, should be formed not only in every family, but also at the state level.
