“5000 Km range missiles can now be intercepted…” DRDO Chief Dr Kamat’s interview on AD-1 missile

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): India has successfully conducted maiden flight test of Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence Interceptor AD-1 at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha on November 02. After the successful test, DRDO Chief Dr Samir V Kamat expressed that the 500 km range missiles can now be intercepted. He said, “We initially developed BMD phase 1 capability to destroy incoming missiles of 2,000 km class. Yesterday’s test now helped us to intercept any missile of the 5,000 km class.” “If our enemies target from long range, we now have the capability to intercept. It's a significant jump in our capability against ballistic missiles,” he added.
