Advanced Research Seed Station playing vital role to promote Saffron in Kashmir

Pampore (J&K), Nov 12 (ANI): Advanced Research and Seed Station is playing a vital role to promote Saffron in Kashmir. It was established at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) by the Jammu and Kashmir government at Dussu in Pampore town. It is available with all the modern facilities including quality check of seed, soil and high-tech dripping system. In the research station, experts brought some imported base and seeds from specific countries aimed to differentiate and maintain the quality of local saffron production. It will improve the quality of saffron and growers will get proper benefits in the future. That’s why growers also visited research station to get awareness about new seeds and technologies. In Kashmir Valley, Pampore is the main area where saffron cultivation happens at large scale and maximum people are involved in saffron production. Saffron is also famous in all over the world due to its superior quality and this golden spice is considered as the expensive spice crop in the International market.
