Afghanistan’s Taliban, US sign peace agreement in Qatar’s Doha
Feb 29, 2020
Doha (Qatar), Feb 27 (ANI): United States of America and Taliban signed 'agreement for bringing peace to Afghanistan' on February 29 in Qatar’s Doha. The deal will pave the way for US to gradually withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. While addressing the gathering during Afghan-US joint declaration, United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo said, “This effort only became real when the Taliban showed interest in pursuing real peace and ending their relationship with Al-Qaeda and other foreign terrorist groups. Agreement that we will sign today is the true test of this effort.” “We will closely watch Taliban for their compliance with their commitments and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal with their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists,” Mike Pompeo further said.
