Art exhibition with written Sufi verses attract youths in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 15 (ANI): A unique art exhibition with written Sufi verses attracted visitors especially art loving youths in Kashmir. This exhibition was titled as ‘Textural and Textual Confluences’ by Javaid Iqbal. It was organised by Gayoor Art Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums (J&K) and Institute of Music and Fine Arts from University of Kashmir at Old Assembly Building in Shergarhi Complex in Srinagar. The purpose of the exhibition was to attract youths towards art and aware them about the importance of Sufi poetry. During this exhibition, more than 30 paintings were displayed with Sufi poetry. In the past, Kashmir valley produced a number of legendary Sufi poets and artists, as a result the Kashmir valley is also known as valley of Sufis and saints. But due to western culture, the present generation is not fully aware about the rich past including art and culture. So that’s why a prominent artist Javaid Iqbal in collaboration with Gayoor Foundation made unique paintings. For the last three months, Javaid worked hard to prepare these paintings at proper time with a new concept of highlighting the poetry of Sufi legends of Kashmir.
