Big show of Opposition strength before 2024 polls at BRS rally

Khammam (Telangana), Jan 18 (ANI): With an aim to play a bigger role in national politics, and expand base from Telangana to pan-India, State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao or KCR rechristened his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on October 05, 2022. KCR inaugurated his party BRS office in New Delhi on December 14, 2022, with an eye on the 2024 general elections. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy were among the prominent opposition leaders who attended the inaugural ceremony. While addressing the public rally, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, “Today, we've a situation- a political formation which wasn't a part of our national freedom struggle e is in power in the country. Followers of those who tendered unconditional apologies to colonisers and promised to serve imperial crown are at helm of affairs today.” “Efforts are on to portray Hindi as the national language while sidelining all our native languages. Imposing Hindi by doing away with our mother tongues will affect the integrity of the nation,” Pinarayi Vijayan added. Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at BJP while addressing the rally. “Yesterday, BJP accepted that only 400 days are left for them in power now. Those who start counting their days, can't remain in power. Now, only 399 days are remaining,” he said. CPI General Secretary D Raja said, “We all will have to come together and work together to fight BJP and defeat BJP. That is the task before everyone.” “When (Donald) Trump's wife (Melania Trump) wanted to see government school, they (BJP) showed 'Kejriwal wala' school...Bharatiya Jumla Party is misleading country. They want to acquire every place. Where they don't win, they conduct by-polls or buy MLAs,” said Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann In a scathing attack against PM Modi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during his speech accused the PM of ordering Governors to trouble their respective CMs, whether it’s Telangana, Punjab, Delhi or any other state. Accusing the BJP of failing to act especially on the issue of unemployment, Kejriwal said, “You have given Modi a chance twice. Now you must realise that they are destroying the nation. We must oust this government and bring in a government that will focus on your development.”
