Apr 13, 2019
Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka), Apr 13 (ANI): The annual 'Chendu' festival was celebrated at Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple in Polali village of Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district. Hundreds of devotees took part in this annual event and played ‘Chendu’ representing their respected villages. In Kannada, 'Chendu' means ball so this festival is nothing but a football game. Traditionally, the football game represents the win of 'good over evil'. This festival is part of an annual temple festival, which goes on for a month during March-April. Watermelons are being offered to the deity during the five-day festival and then later sold to the devotees. Watermelon is an integral part of the festival.
