Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurates Northeast NSS festival 2024 in Tripura

Agartala (Tripura), September 24 (ANI): The Northeast NSS Festival 2024 was inaugurated by Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha on September 24, further highlighting the program’s importance in the region. The National Service Scheme (NSS) is making significant strides in Tripura, fostering community service among students and youth. Launched in 1976 with just 600 students from six colleges, the NSS has grown remarkably, now boasting over 32,600 volunteers across 363 units in various educational institutions. NSS volunteers in Tripura engage in a variety of community service activities, including blood donation drives, Pulse Polio Immunization, environmental campaigns, plantation initiatives, awareness programs, health camps, food distribution, self-defense programs for girls, cleanliness drives, and gardening. This surge in volunteerism reflects a growing trend among students and youths to contribute positively to society.
