Civil services aspirants in Gilgit Baltistan launch protests demanding postponement of exam
Nov 09, 2021
Gilgit Baltistan, 09 November 2021: - A large number of aspirants took to streets across the illegally occupied region of Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan’s capital Islamabad against the government’s call of not re-scheduling the Central Superior Services or CSS exam date. The protest which was primarily led by aspirants from Gilgit Baltistan highlighted a concocted Islamabad plan at play to minimize the success rate of students from the already marginalised region. The CSS exam is responsible for producing the top bureaucratic class of Pakistan. But Islamabad, with its discriminatory policies towards the natives of the region, has tried every tool in its kit to prevent them from joining these services. Just a few months before the exam, not only did they change the major portion of the syllabus but also didn’t make any changes to the date of the exam. This has left the aspirants furious. They accused the authorities of compromising with the leadership in order to provide benefits to the children of elite class of Pakistan.
