CM KCR inaugurates 8 new medical colleges across Telangana

Hyderabad, Nov 15 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated 8 medical colleges via video conferencing in Pragati Bhavan on November 15. CM KCR has initiated a qualitative change in the field of medicine by starting the classes for MBBS first year students from Hyderabad. CM KCR congratulated the medical students and staff during the inauguration ceremony. He also congratulated Health Minister Harish Rao and senior officials for their efforts. On this occasion, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said we are proud to start 8 medical colleges today in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Manchiryala, Jagityala, Vanaparthi, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam. We are determined to have one medical college in every district. The number of Government Medical Colleges increased to 17. They are spread over 16 districts. There is a need to start new medical colleges in another 17 districts. Previously 850 MBBS seats were available in government medical colleges which has increased to 2,790. Earlier there were only 70 super specialty seats, today 152 seats are available. This is a good opportunity for Dalit, Tribal, SC, SC, Minority students. State Health Minister T. Harish Rao, R&B Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, former Speaker of Legislative Assembly, MLC S. Madhusudanachari, Chief Secretary to Government Somesh Kumar, Health Secretary Rizvi, Medical Infrastructure Corporation Chairman Errolla, Chandrasekhar Reddy and others participated.
