Delhi Police celebrates International Yoga Day at Headquarters

New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Several senior police officers as well as other Delhi Police personnel performed various 'Asanas' to mark the International Yoga Day, on the lawns of Delhi Police Headquarters at Jai Singh Road, New Delhi. Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Police was the Chief Guest and Chief Participant in this event. Several Yoga instructors displayed various Yoga movements for the ease of participants. The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is 'Yoga for Humanity', as it depicts how during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yoga served humanity in alleviating suffering. The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India.The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his UN address in 2014, had suggested the date of June 21 and henceforth, Yoga Day is celebrated globally on June 21, every year.
