Devotees celebrate ‘Gai Jatra’ in Kathmandu for salvation of departed souls

Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 24 (ANI): People celebrated ‘Gai Jatra’ festival at Taleju Bhawani Temple in Kathmandu. They offered prayers at the temple. The festival is celebrated every year by people in memory of their deceased relatives. This festival of cows commonly called "Gai Jatra" or the "Cow Festival" falls in the month of Bhadra (Bhadra Sukla Pratipada), the fifth month of the Lunar calendar. It is mostly observed by Newari and Tharu communities of Nepal.
