Regarded as one of the Shaktipeeth in Hinduism, the temple is only opened for public on the ninth day of the Dashain or Dussehra festival. Till the day of Vijaya Dashami, people worship at Mulchowk's magnificent statue of the goddess Taleju. Navratri culminates on the 10th day, coinciding with Dussehra festival with the killing of demon king Ravana, signifying the victory of good over evil.
