Hyderabad (Telangana), June 2 (ANI): Telangana government on June 01 announced Rs 2 crore cash prize to Nikhat Zareen for clinching Gold medal in the recently held Women’s World Boxing Championship in Turkey. Apart from this, the government also decided to allot residential plots to the boxer at Banjara Hills or Jubilee Hills. Earlier, the government had also given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to Nikhat. Hours after the announcement, Nikhat Zareen’s father Jammel Ahmed expressed his happiness and said that the financial assistance received from the Telangana government was the turning point for Nikhat’s career. Speaking to ANI, Jammel Ahmed said, “I am feeling very happy as I just came to know that our Telangana CM KCR has announced Rs 2crores cash prize and a plot for residence for Nikhat. CM KCR has announced the prize at a time when we are in need of it. I hope he will support us like this in future. The CM had given us Rs 50,000 cash after the formation of Telangana state in 2014. This financial assistance was a turning point in Nikhat’s career. Today is another turning point as CM has announced the cash prize and decided to allot us a plot. I appeal to people that come forward and support your children in sports so that they can bring laurels to Telangana and India.”
