‘Flood Aftermath’: Experts stress on preservation of Kashmir’s water channels and wetlands
Sep 08, 2024
Srinagar (J&K), September 08 (ANI): Environmental experts organised an awareness program on the preservation of water bodies in Kashmir. Environmental Policy Group (EPG), J&K’s Irrigation and Flood Control Department jointly organised the program at the Institute of Engineers. The program addressed various issues related to protecting and conserving water bodies, especially water channels and wetlands. On September 7, 2014, during the devastating flood, water bodies, channels, and wetlands played a crucial role in absorbing the excess water. Despite this, the massive flood affected the entire valley, causing significant losses and leading to severe economic conditions. This has prompted experts from both government and non-government organizations to emphasize the preservation of water bodies.
