Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe shot during campaign, feared dead

New Delhi, July 08 (ANI): Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was shot during a campaign in the western Japan city of Nara on July 08. He was shot during a campaign speech in the western Japan city of Nara. Shinzo Abe was attacked by 41-year-old Yamagami Tetsuya from behind. At least two gunshots were heard on-site, local media reported. However, the police arrested the attacker on the spot. Shinzo Abe was airlifted to a hospital. He was unconscious and appeared to be showing no vital signs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met Abe on the sidelines of the QUAD Summit in Japan. Abe Shinzo became the prime minister of Japan twice, from 2006-07 and again from 2012-20.
