GB: Locals oppose provincial resolution, call it exclusionary, discriminatory

Mar 16, 2021

Gilgit Baltistan, 16 March 2021:- Regional political parties in Gilgit Baltistan are enraged with Islamabad’s latest move of passing a resolution in the GB assembly to grant the occupied region a status of Pakistan’s ‘interim province’. This comes a few months after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaaf won assembly elections that were marred with allegations of fraud and irregularities. While Pakistan has clearly disregarded the UN resolutions in its attempt to annex the region completely, locals call it a devious plot. They say they are not being granted even rights at par with people in other part of Pakistan occupied Kashmir referred as Azad Kashmir.
