GeM portal hiked to over Rs 1.06 lakh crore worth of procurement in 2021-22: Anurag Thakur

New Delhi, June 01 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, while addressing a Press Conference on June 01 in Delhi, said that opening the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal has procurement of Rs 6,220 crore in 2017-18 hiked to over Rs 1.06 lakh crore in 2021-22. While addressing a Press Conference on June 01, he said, “After opening the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal, Self-Help Groups, MSMEs, and small businessmen have benefitted a lot. Different PSUs, ministries, departments, autonomous bodies, or local bodies of the government started buying from the GeM portal,” he said. “GeM works on inclusion, transparency, and efficiency. Artisans, weavers, SHGs, start-ups, women entrepreneurs, and MSMEs are registered on GeM. If you look at accounting for the last 4yrs, procurement of Rs 6,220 crore in 2017-18 hiked to over Rs 1.06 lakh crore in 2021-22,” he added.
