Ganderbal (J&K), Dec 28 (ANI): Muhammad Mansha Khaki, a distinguished Gojri writer from Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, has been engaged in efforts to preserve the Gojri language for the last three decades. He comes from Gujjar Bakerwal, a tribal community. He has known for his outstanding contributions to linguistics and the preservation of culture and Gojri language. In his childhood, Mansha had to work hard to study and used to cover a distance of 20 kilometres on foot every day. Amid such challenges, he obtained Master’s Degree and was only then that his resolve to preserve his language became stronger. His scope is so extensive that it has been conserved in about hundreds volumes which include poems and folk songs. Muhammad Mansha has translated many books in Gojri language. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Mansha's contributions in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast.
