Grand Skate Tour 2023 held in Moscow
Sep 12, 2023
Moscow (Russia), Sep 12 (ANI/ TV BRICS): Instead of complicated tricks on the ramp, there are neat "ollies" and simple variations of "flips" on the flat ground. Athletes don't take any risks: you lose traction on wet trajectories, and easy tricks don't seem so familiar and safe anymore. The game of "skate" is a mini-competition for the cleanest execution of the tricks - a kind of training before the long-awaited final. And while on the court, as well as in the semi-final lists, a favourite has emerged: Mathias dell olio, a technical athlete with fast legs who compares skateboarding to a game of chess. This year's grand skate tour -one of Russia’s largest extreme skate festivals – brought together hundreds of athletes from 41 countries. The skateboard "clicks" in the very centre of Moscow resounded for a whole week. Ramps, bunks, fly boxes, and dozens of other elements of the skate park from 2021 Remain almost unchanged, but the scenery, the organizers admit, will continue to change. The popularity of skateboarding is growing every year. Once street and informal, it is now an Olympic sport. But the riders themselves think more broadly: for them, it's a lifestyle. None of the finalists left empty-handed. The winners took a piece of the skate park with them: the coveted prize of the competition - a golden "stop", a mini analog of the highest element of the platform - was taken home by Colombian Jasmine Alvarez and Argentine Matias dell olio, who confirmed his championship.
