Jul 09, 2022
Guwahati (Assam), July 09 (ANI): As the flood situation is improving in Assam, fear of vector-borne diseases loomed in Guwahati. The health team has visited many areas under Raha Assembly Constituency and taken blood samples from the villagers. According to the Assam State Health Department, 74 cases of Japanese Encephalitis have been reported in the state this year so far and seven people have succumbed to the infection. “As a preventive measure, people should use some insecticide. It's advisable to wear full-sleeved shirts. We've been conducting awareness camps,” said Naba Jyoti Das, Community Health Officer. “We have been taking blood slides to detect malaria. We then refer the cases to higher institutions. Hygiene should be maintained in the house, as a preventive measure,” said Dr Lakhidhar Das (Sub-Divisional Medical Officer).
