Heated exchange in Lok Sabha: Agriculture Min Shivraj Chouhan Vs Kalyan Banerjee over MGNREGA Funds

New Delhi, December 03 (ANI): Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has accused the West Bengal government of misusing funds meant for rural development schemes. He also claimed that the West Bengal government had changed the name of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to their own name, again misusing funds meant for the scheme. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, "The West Bengal government has committed the crime of benefiting a few people by reducing big works to small ones. Under this scheme, ineligible people were made eligible and eligible people were made ineligible, this has been proved, the names of rural development schemes have been changed. They have committed the crime of changing the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to their own name. Under this scheme also, ineligible people were given benefits and eligible people were left out. This amount is not for misuse and it is not for benefiting ineligible people. The West Bengal government did not take any effective action on this. As PM Modi has said 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', but we will not let the amount be misused ..."
