INS Nishank, INS Akshay decommissioned after 32 years in service

Mumbai, June 04 (ANI): The Indian Navy on June 03 decommissioned its two ships, INS Akshay and INS Nishank, after 32 years of service. The ceremony was conducted at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai in a traditional ceremony wherein National Flag, Naval Ensign and Decommissioning Pennant of 2 ships were lowered for the last time at sunset. INS Nishank and Akshay were part of 22 Missile Vessel Squadron and 23 Patrol Vessel Squadron respectively under op control of Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area. They participated in several naval operations including Operation Talwar during Kargil War and Operation Parakram in 2001.
