J-K: Heavy rains trigger landslide in Udhampur, highway clearance ops underway

Udhampur (J&K), June 22 (ANI): A massive landslide has blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44 in the Samroli village of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on June 22. Some portion of the road near Dewal Bridge also got swept away in the landslide. “A massive landslide in Samroli area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur Dist. has blocked Jammu-Srinagar NH-44. A portion of the road near Dewal Bridge, Samroli also got swept away in the landslide. No casualties or losses have been reported so far,” said Himmat Singh, Dy SP Traffic Udhampur. “It will take two days to clear the road. We appeal to the commuters to avoid travelling on National Highway for 2 days. Around 80-100 meters of the road got washed away and a JCB machine also swept into the river,” he added.
