J&K: Drugs de-addiction awareness camp cum rally organised in Anantnag

Anantnag (J&K) Dec 12 (ANI): Indian Army and an NGO, Anti-Corruption Foundation on December 12 conducted a drugs de-addiction awareness camp cum rally in Anantnag of Kashmir. The aim of conducting this awareness camp was to educate the youth about the growing drug menace in society and its impact on their life. The campaign witnessed an overwhelming participation of various schools and key persons of the society. The program was attended by 430 children and 28 teachers from across seven schools of Anantnag District. Prominent members of society were also invited to share their experiences and form a deeper bond with the children. The individuals came from the fields of medicine, police, education and local governance bodies. As per a research by the AIIMS National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre in Srinagar, over six lakh people in J&K are drugs users. Ninety percent of drugs users are in the age group of 17 and 33.
