J&K: Rearing process of silk worms in full swing to increase cocoon production

Mirgund (J&K), July 16 (ANI): Rearing operation of silk worms in full swing to increase cocoon production and boost sericulture sector in the Kashmir. Sericulture sector has its own importance and authorities are trying their best to increase the mulberry fruit crop as well as production of cocoons. This year the production of mulberry fruit crop was good. Cocoon crop experts of the sericulture department are monitoring the rearing process these days. Both government and private sector people are very much busy with rearing process that is going in Mirgund Feed Station. Experts are maintaining the temperature, providing them fresh green mulberry leaves, changing nets and spraying with lime powder aimed to protect worms from any infection. After that, silkworms need twenty-four hours to fifty hours’ rest in the sleeping cycle. It is a very important stage of rearing when silkworms are eating the green mulberry leaves as main food and complete different cycles of sleeping.
