J&K: Tent installation for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims nears completion in Baltal base camp
Jun 27, 2022
Sonamarg (J&K), June 27 (ANI): The tent installation for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims is nearing completion in Sonamarg's Baltal base camp. Hundreds of tents have been put up for the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra, which will start on June 30, 2022, after a gap of two years in the valley. The Yatra did not happen due to unfavourable situation in the valley in 2019 following the removal of Articles 370 and 35A. Moreover, only a few official persons were allowed to enter the holy cave during these two years because of COVID-induced restrictions. This year, everything is in order and the government has made all necessary preparations including the tent facilities. Currently, the finishing touches are being done for the installation of tents in the Baltal base camp. For long, the pilgrims have been provided tent accommodations during the Yatra. Apart from religious activity, it is an occasion that consistently makes locals in Kangan, Gagangeer, Gund, and Sonamarg smile. They get opportunities to serve the pilgrims during the Yatra through services of ponies, setting up shops and tents. However, they do not see it as a business; rather, they see it as a customary service, which explains why they are so joyful and looking forward to the Yatra this year. The director of Baltal base camp said, “Kashmir is known for its warm hospitality, which is why for decades, locals have always helped us to offer tent facilities for pilgrims.”
