Kerala confirms India’s first Monkeypox case

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), July 15 (ANI): After detecting the country’s first Monkeypox case in Kerala, government has released guidelines for management of Monkeypox disease. The State Health Department has already sent alert to all the districts regarding the outbreak of Monkeypox. There has been only one case detected and total of 11 people are under observation. Kerala Government Medical Officer’s Association (KGMOA) President Dr GS Krishnakumar said, “the chances of death are very low in this South African variant which is affected to the UAE returnee in Kerala. The main symptoms are body ache, fever, rashes occurring in mouth, and body also in genital area. The method of spread is through close contact from infected persons from the vesicular fluids and airborne spread is also there through heavy droplets.”
