Apr 29, 2023

Moscow (Russia), Apr 29 (ANI/ TV BRICS): The Kolomenskoye Museum reserve in Moscow opened an exhibition called "Kokoshnik- beauty traditions". Unique exhibits of the 18th to 19th centuries were brought from different regions of Russia and presented in the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The idea to show the beauty and diversity of women's headwear came to Natalia Drozdova during the exhibition of her author dolls in costumes. Looking at the elegant toys, she thought that it would be good to show real clothes. Now Muscovites and guests of the capital can see wardrobe items of fashionable women from different regions of Russia. Kokoshnik is the traditional headwear of a married woman in Russia. The name comes from the word "Kokosh", which means "hen", or "chicken comb". Two or three centuries ago, Kokoshniks were abundantly decorated with gold, precious stones, pearls, beads, and embroidery. What's more, the expensive accessories were handed down as inheritance, and different parts of Russia had their own traditions and ways of decorating. A large part of the exhibition was taken up by exhibits brought from the national museum of Tatarstan. In addition to the headdresses, visitors will be able to see traditional costumes and folk art items from the provinces of the Russian Empire. Thematic excursions, classes, and master classes are there as well.
