Kolkata: India’s first underwater metro line below River Hooghly in the offing

Kolkata, December 30 (ANI): Construction work for India's first underwater metro lineis underway at RiverHooghly in Kolkata. The metro line willconnect Howrah and Kolkata and it will be made fully functional by 2023. The stretch is 16.55 km long, of which 520 meters will be under the river bed. The tunnel corridor is 33 meters below the riverbed. The Kolkata East-West Metro line is being constructed by Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL).
