Locals say hydropower potential of PoJK going waste, load-shedding woes continue

PoJK, 06 August, 2024:- In the picturesque region of Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, a tale of immense potential and squandered resources unfolds. Locals lament after deadly protests in May, the electricity prices have come down, but the load-shedding has instead increased. Saad Hameed, a social worker, pointed fingers at the mismanagement of existing so-called hydropower projects, which are dysfunctional due to no maintenance. And despite having natural resources to generate power, they are suffering.
