Maha Shivratri: Sadhus throng Nepal's Pashupatinath temple

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 28 (ANI): Sadhus and saints from different parts of Nepal and India have started arriving in Pashupati area for the upcoming Maha Shivaratri festival. As Maha Shivaratri festival is less than a day away, the sacred temple of Pashupati Nath in Nepal’s Kathmandu is thronged by sadhus. The courtyard of the Ram Mandir in the premises of Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and pilgrimage site for Hindu Devotees is brimming with Sadhus as they return after the pandemic. More than 7 Thousand saints from Nepal and India are expected to come to Pashupat Area by evening as MahaShivaratri falls on Tuesday this year. The Mahashivratri which falls on 1st March this year will witness over a million pilgrims from Nepal as well as India. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated marking the convergence of Shiva and Shakti. MahaShivratri also celebrates the night when Lord Shiva performed the "Tandav", the cosmic dance. Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu is considered the Guardian and Protector of the Kathmandu Valley and Nepal.
