MoCA celebrates International Yoga Day at Gwalior Fort

Gwalior ( Madhya Pradesh), June 21, 2022 (ANI): The Ministry of Civil Aviation celebrated the eighth International Day of Yoga on Tuesday, by organising a Yoga event with nearly 2000 people in attendance. Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia led the event. The Yoga event started with the lightening of lamp by Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, member of Parliament from Gwalior. Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar and Jyotiraditya Scindia addressed the public and explained the contribution of Yoga to health and society. Many officials of the Airport authority of India and Ministry of Civil Aviation also present at the event. Rubina Ali, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation also explained the importance of yoga. Enthusiastic participants seemed full of energy as they explained the positive impact yoga played in their life. PM Modi and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Chouhan's speech were telecasted live. More than 15,000 people participated in the Yoga celebrations along with the Prime Minister at the Mysuru Palace grounds.At the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly took a historic decision in 2014 to declare 21st June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). The theme for IDY 2022 is “Yoga for Humanity” as it depicts how during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, yoga served humanity in alleviating the suffering.
