Moscow Ornitary: Caring for birds
Mar 11, 2023
Moscow (Russia), March 11 (ANI/ TV BRICS): The Moscow ornitary celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. During this time, hundreds of birds of all kinds have been raised and fostered. It is easy to get acquainted with birds of prey and feel yourself as a falconer - the ornitary is open to all visitors. Victoria Puzakova has been a member of the club for 5 years. There are about 200 birds in total at the ornitary. Anyone can come to the club, watch, socialise and even walk with the feathered friends. Apart from fostering, the centre also rehabilitates sick and injured individuals. Ornithologists' task is to restore the bird's condition in order to return it to its natural environment afterwards. Those that cannot be cured for some reason are kept in the ornitary under professional supervision. Natalya Anisimova is a veterinary ornithologist. She works with both domestic and wild birds. Patients' diagnoses range from hypothermia and food poisoning to serious fractures and head injuries. The ornithology centre in Sokolniki is a social & environmental project, which has already proved its importance, and became an example of careful attitude to birds in the urban environment.
