Mirgund (J&K), June 25 (ANI): The wonderful mulberry fruit yield in the Kashmir valley is boosted by favourable weather. Mulberry is one of the perishable fruit crops grown in the valley. In comparison to last year, the mulberry growers this year are pleased with the production of the fruit harvest. The demand for the fruit is also good this year. Due to the pandemic last year, harvesting started a little later than usual and growers encountered numerous difficulties, particularly in marketing. However, everything is as it should be, and production is good this year. Farmers and sericulture department staff are very busy harvesting the mulberry fruit crop. A few years ago, the department of sericulture concentrated primarily on mulberry leaves in an effort to boost the valley's cocoon production. However, the sericulture department is actively working to increase the output of mulberry fruit with the aid of a few unique plans that have been approved by the central government. Due to the fact that mulberry fruit is healthy and in high demand nationwide, growers have recently shown a keen interest in producing this crop, which also provides employment to a number of people. Agro-industries in Jammu and Kashmir and numerous young entrepreneurs set up modern facilities where they are making mulberry jam and juice. Many nurseries in the Kashmir Valley are well-known for their mulberry crops, and Mirgund Nursery is one of them, it is located on the outskirts of Srinagar.
