Oct 17, 2023
Srinagar (J&K), October 17 (ANI): A week-long Multilingual National Theatre festival was organized by Kashmir Performers Collective at the Tagore hall in Srinagar in collaboration with J & K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Srinagar and North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, Punjab. It brought cheer and joy to theater lovers of the valley. The week-long festival started on October 09 and concluded on October 16. During this festival, seven theatre groups from across the country including Jammu and Kashmir gave tremendous performances and entertained audiences at large scale. The plays depicted important parts of century-old history and highlighted the social issues of the people of Kashmir. The purpose of the festival was to revive decades-old theater activities with multi style and provide a proper platform for young and energetic artists. “Theatre is as important as the blood in our veins. If a society does not have a theatre culture, then the society’s identity will be in question. To keep the theatre and its values alive, and to take it to newer heights, our youths should come forward, and all children should come together, and thus we organised this festival,” said Manzoor Ahmad Mir, the festival Director. “Thanks to the people of Kashmir for calling us here and giving us this stage. My message is to the youth, that always listen to the director and perform as he says this will improve your art form. And to the people, I want to say that come to the theatre, then only you will know what we want to show, its actual value,” said Nitin Bharadwaj, a performing artist from Lucknow.
