Nepal: Devotees throng Krishna Temple in Lalitpur to celebrate birth anniversary of Lord Krishna

Lalitpur (Nepal), Aug 26 (ANI): Thousands of devotees lined up to enter the Krishna Temple in Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna or Krishna Janmashtami. Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated by throughout the Himalayan Nation with devotion and veneration. As per the Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna, incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Protector of human being from evil, injustice and devilish forces was born on midnight of Bhadrakrishna Ashtami as per the lunar calendar during the Dwapar era. He is also known as the advocate of the three principles: Gyanayog, Karmayog, and Bhaktiyog. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated with great festivity to honor Lord Krishna's virtuous acts and to promote a joyful and prosperous life. Devotees, particularly women, spend the night in prayer, singing devotional songs, dancing, and lighting oil lamps. The famous Shri Krishna Temple, an architectural gem located in Patan Durbar Square, was constructed by the former King of Patan, Siddhi Narsingh Malla, using stone. Lord Krishna, who was born to Vasudev and Devaki and imprisoned by Kansha in Mathura, is described in ancient scriptures as a guide for humanity, leading people toward knowledge, truth, and immortality. Additionally, Lord Krishna, also known as "Gopal" for his devoted service as a cowherd and "Manmohan" for the enchanting melodies he played on his flute, captivated everyone with his charm.
