Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 31 (ANI): Nepal Police on Thursday celebrated its service dogs with a feast and special treats, coinciding with the second day of the Tihar festival, which recognizes Kukur Tihar—a day dedicated to honoring dogs. During a ceremony that highlighted their skills in locating clues and evidence for criminal investigations, the canine division of the Nepal Police presented the service dogs with garlands, treats, flowers, and vermillion powder. The dogs at the school have played a vital role in rescuing survivors trapped under rubble, especially during visits from foreign dignitaries. In recognition of their service, the canine office awarded medals to those dogs that excelled in their specializations, including solving crime mysteries, gathering evidence, aiding in search and rescue operations, and apprehending narcotics traffickers. The canine division of the Nepal Police hosts an annual ceremony to honor these remarkable animals for their contributions. Among the many dogs in the division, which also serves as a training facility, one dog was awarded the title of “Dog of the Year” for its outstanding role in solving cases.
