Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 17 (ANI): The pollution level in Nepal has increased with the onset of winter, causing the capital, Kathmandu, to be enveloped in a thick, polluted haze. Since early Thursday morning, the bowl-shaped valley of the Nepali capital has been shrouded in a dense layer of air pollution, creating problems for its residents. In recent years, air pollution in Nepal has become a serious environmental and public health risk, with pollution levels 4.9 times higher than those recommended by the WHO. The deteriorating air quality in Kathmandu is endangering hundreds of thousands of Nepalese, exposing them to numerous health issues. In fact, the WHO consistently identifies air pollution as the leading risk factor for death and disability in Nepal. The city's poor air quality is a significant public health concern, leading to pollution-related illnesses and deaths, and imposing an economic burden on the country due to lost productivity and the overuse of healthcare resources.
