NMCG celebrates International Yoga Day at Ganga Ghats

New Delhi, June 21, 2022, (ANI): National Mission for Clean Ganga has organised Yoga sessions on the occasion of the 8th International Day of Yoga. As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating India’s 75 years of India’s Independence, the eighth International Day of Yoga was organised on more 75 Ganga ghats. The International Yoga Day was celebrated at Sarnath deer park where almost 1200 people participated in the programme. Yoga sessions were also organised at Sahibgunj, Aligarh, Varanasi, Bokaro, Khagaria Ganga ghats. Other than that, the Yoga events occurred at CIFRI, Barrackpore and Prabhupad Ghat organised by ISKCON Mayapur. Yoga programs were organized in many cities including Badrinath, Gangotri on the occasion of International Yoga Day. A large number of people, including ministers, performed yoga. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a yoga program was organized by the Department of AYUSH and AYUSH Education at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, in which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated and performed yoga with thousands of people. The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated every year on June 21 since 2015, following the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration in 2014. The theme for IDY 2022 is “Yoga for Humanity” as it depicts how during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, yoga served humanity in alleviating the suffering.
