NMCG Organizes 7th Edition of India Water Impact Summit

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in collaboration with Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga) organized the 7th edition of Water Impact Summit in New Delhi. The three day-long event is being organized under the theme Restoration and Conservation of small rivers in a large basin. The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the event along with Pankaj Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Vinod Tare, Founding Head, cGanga and D.P Mathuria, Executive Director (Technical) of NMCG. Through the 7th edition of Water Impact Summit, Minister of Jal Shakti, called upon the various stakeholders and participants to discuss and formulate a plan for development of water and environmental structures to protect rivers and water bodies in India. Heads of several institutions working in the field of water management, water conservation and water preservation are participating in the three-day long event. A special emphasis is being laid on the select aspects of ‘Mapping and Convergence of 5Ps’ that are People, Policy, Plan, Programme and Project. The event is also hosting a finance forum to bring together global financial institutions and investors interested in river restoration and conservation programmes. It will also provide an opportunity to dozens of technology and innovation companies from the country and around the world to bring their solutions and address various issues and concerns pertinent to our Ganga river and other river basins. The efforts done by NMCG in rejuvenation of one of the largest rivers, Ganga is being appreciated world over. Recently, the United Nations recognized the ‘Namami Gange’ initiative as one of the top 10 World Restoration flagships to revive the natural world.
