No need to panic over Monkeypox, govt closely monitoring development: NIV Scientist

Pune (Maharashtra), July 19: Senior Scientist from Pune ICMR-National Institute of Virology Pragya Yadav on July 19 said that there is no need to panic over Monkeypox and the government is alert and monitoring any development very closely. Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, “It is a controlled situation with nothing to panic about. For now, we have only 2 cases. Govt is alert, monitoring any development very closely.” “During the pandemic, the system learned a lot. People are well trained and know how to handle specimens and infected patients. Isolation wards already present across the country after a letter was issued from the Ministry of Health, as soon as the first case of Monkeypox was declared by WHO,” she added.
