Pakistan: Major clashes between security forces and members of outlawed TLP in Lahore

Lahore (Pakistan), April 18, 2021(ANI): Major clashes have erupted between police and TLP supporters in Lahore on Sunday. Police used bullets, tear gas on the protesters at Lahore Markaz. At least 3 TLP supporters killed and many injured, including policemen. Mufti Abdul Aziz at Lal Masjid, Islamabad also supported Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), a hard line religious group, which continues to hold protests after arrest of party Chief Saad Hussain Rizvi. It has been demanding expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan. TLP is opposing publication of blasphemous caricatures in Charlie Hebdo magazine and remarks about Islam and terrorism by French President Emmanuel Macron. Pakistan interior ministry recently issued notification to declare TLP as a proscribed organization. It said the government "has reasonable grounds to believe that TLP is engaged in terrorism.
