“Parliament reduced to notice board, rubber stamp…” Shashi Tharoor’s jibe at Centre

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Jan 21 (ANI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor made a direct attack on the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre in the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) on January 20. While attending the second day of JLF, Shashi Tharoor said, “Today, our government has successfully reduced Parliament to a notice board and a rubber stamp. It is a notice board for government to announce whatever it wants and rubber stamp as their crushing majority obediently passes every bill in exactly the form it comes from the cabinet.” “Under Jawaharlal Nehru, we had a parliament where ruling party members could challenge their Prime Minister. We saw a Finance Minister being forced to resign over a scandal exposed by Congress backbenchers and Prime Minister held accountable to Parliament during the 1962 China War,” he added. The 16th edition of the Jaipur Literature festival started on January 19.
