Jan 10, 2023
Joshimath (Uttarakhand), Jan 10 (ANI): The demolition of Hotels which has been declared 'unsafe' stopped after the protest by locals on January 10. The demolition of buildings that have developed cracks in the wake of subsidence was going under the supervision of a team of experts from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee before locals started protesting. Hotels Malari Inn and Mount View, which have developed more cracks had to be demolished in the wake of the landslide and subsidence. “I am not protesting against the demolition of the hotel building but I'm demanding fair compensation from the government. I am demanding compensation be given to me like it was given during development projects in Badrinath. The state govt isn't cooperating at all. I'll sit here until I die,” said the hotel owner of Malari Inn While Manikant Mishra, SDRF Commandant said, “ We are talking to the hotel owner via CDO Chamoli after certain issues were raised by him. Demolition work of the hotel will be done after a decision is agreed upon.”
