Protesters block Karakoram Highway in PoGB over bridge collapse incident

PoGB, 27 May, 2024: - Scores of locals and activists in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit Baltistan recently blocked the Karakoram Highway to express anger over the death of two people after a wooden suspension bridge collapsed in Khanabad village. The protesters demanded Rs. 50 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased, who were killed as their mini truck fell in the Hunza river following the collapse. They raised concern over infrastructural underdevelopment in the region as the cause of their miseries.
