Saffron growers expect good production this year in Kashmir

Pulwama (J&K), Nov 08 (ANI): Favorable weather and timely rainfall helps to increase the production of saffron crops in Kashmir. This year, the climatic condition was moderate and the valley received a good quantity of rainfall which led to saffron growers expecting satisfactory and quality saffron production this year compared to previous years. For the last few years, saffron production decreased at a large scale and growers face a lot of problems due to dry spell and lack of irrigation. But, this year, Kashmir valley receives a good quantity of rainfall and saffron production shows positive results in the shape of good production. Presently, atmosphere of saffron fields looks beautiful due to the colourful blossoms of saffron. It led to all growers seeing busy with harvesting the golden crop. Saffron is considered as a family business and that’s why growers start harvesting process and enjoy the fragrance of this beautiful and world-famous crop. Kashmiri Saffron has a huge demand on national and international markets due to best quality which results in people who are dealing with this world-famous and expensive spice doing well and expecting good turnover. Pampore area is considering as the hub of saffron crop and most probably economy of Pampore depends on Saffron crop. Government officials also visit constantly in saffron fields to provide any kind of assistance so that growers will complete this harvesting process in a proper manner.
