Severe water crisis forces Bundelkhand Villagers in MP to rely on contaminated water
May 21, 2024
Chhatarpur (MP), May 21 (ANI): Even after 76 years of independence, to quench their thirst, people living in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur village are drinking the dirty water of Jhiriya built in the ditch in the middle of the forest. In Maharkhuwa village in Beharwara, 120 km from Chhatarpur district, nothing can be seen in the name of water from far and wide except the scorching sun and mountains and forests. In this tribal-dominated area, to survive people here do only one thing every day, filathe, wash clothes, and drink this contaminated water. The surprising thing is about 75% of the village youth remain unmarried due to the water crisis. Many families have migrated to escape the harsh conditions.
