Sep 19, 2022

New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): Amid the ongoing going back and forth over the presidential post of the Congress party, Party leader Shashi Tharoor got a green signal to contest in the President Polls. He received a nod from Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi to contest for the post of the party president. The decision comes after the Thiruvananthapuram MP met Gandhi in New Delhi in the afternoon. During the meet, Tharoor said that he can make the internal democracy of Congress stronger. Party leader Rahul Gandhi stepped down from the post of party Chief in 2019 after the general elections. Despite Rahul’s clarification over his disinterest in the role, several leaders have expressed their support to make Mr Gandhi the party Chief. The notification for the Congress President’s election will be made on September 22. The filing of nominations will begin on September 25.
